8th Grade Social Studies Plans
For Exploration and Colonial Period
Students will draw a paper on which a random personnages description is listed...
Such as Englishman age 25 seeking riches, native Powhattan woman age 10, enslaved African age 15, etc.
They read about the change and conflict amongst the groups and write a fictional "first person" account of their experiences.
Use ideas of TCI binders for each unit. See if slide images are available on the new TCI kit which was purchased at the last adoption as a supplemental resource. If not, find matching or similar images from web to create a DVD or put as power point or to Google Docs.
Why did explorers come to the new world? Why did student families come to America?
Conduct Family interviews and research--Family Tree can be side project.
